Contest judging is conducted anonymously. Personal information about the student, school, and mentor must appear ONLY on the entry form and not in the essay. Make sure your software does not automatically put your name on each page. Your essay and the entry form must be uploaded to the Essay Contest Submission site.
We encourage educational articles that leave the reader with refreshed perspective, knowledge, and skill in any of the categories we accept submissions. We also entertain articles of avant-garde poetics that stretch and push the possibilities of modern haiku. And, of course, we enjoy seeing articles about the tradition of hokku and its dna in.

Submissions General Overview. Unlike many magazines, Creative Nonfiction draws heavily from unsolicited submissions. CONTEST RULES. The essay must be an original, unpublished article. The contest is open to all persons except employees of the American Orchid Society and their immediate families.
